Paula Modersohn-Becker (1876–1907) was a pioneering German painter and one of the first women to challenge traditional roles in art. Known for her deeply expressive style, she is celebrated as a precursor to modern Expressionism. Born in Dresden, Modersohn-Becker pursued her artistic studies in Berlin and Paris, where she absorbed the innovations of contemporaries like Paul Cézanne and Gauguin.
